Our damask rose essential oil is a rare and premium oil, organically grown in Bulgaria, with an intense, magical fragrance that is a must-have in perfumery and cosmetics as well as being particularly renowned in energetic aromatherapy.
Damask rose is one of the rarest and most precious essential oils. More than four tonnes of petals are needed to obtain one kilo of damask rose essential oil, making it one of the most expensive essential oils.
Preferred to a rose absolute because of the way it is obtained, this damask rose essential oil is grown organically on the Kazanlak plains in Bulgaria. From May and early June, the roses that fill the Bulgarian plains with their intoxicating fragrance are harvested as they begin to flower. The harvest traditionally begins with festivities, accompanied by dancing and singing, with locals and tourists alike joining in. The petals are then freshly distilled to produce one of the world's best-smelling rose essential oils. It is an essential oil with regenerating and harmonising properties and an exceptionally powerful and intoxicating floral fragrance. In perfumery, where the fragrance of the uncontested "Queen of Flowers" is famous, it is used as the heart note in many luxury perfumes for its characteristically powerful floral and bewitching olfactory properties. In cosmetics, although it can be used for all skin types, its regenerating and toning effects on skin tissue are most often used in skincare products for mature or tired skin, or skin prone to redness. A symbol of love, mystical rebirth and regeneration, organic damask rose essential oil is the preferred rose species for its energetic properties. Also well-known for its stimulating and aphrodisiac properties, it is a powerful psycho-emotional harmoniser and particularly beneficial for low morale and nervous tension, as well as for people with sleep disorders. It opens the way to love, tenderness and compassion. It is also famed for helping people to let go. Despite its high price, this natural wonder is one of the must-have essential oils – but should be used sparingly.
